LOVED IT!, October 4, 2013; By: Angy TF
A page-turner from the beginning. Even with my hectic schedule, I had to find a moment here and there to open the book and immerse myself deeper into the story. I now must read the rest of this series!
Totally captivating, September 5, 2013; By: L. Schipa “skeepa”
I’m a bit of a sci-fi fantasy junkie. My kindle family and I get a lot of stuff. The percentages of hit or miss stuff…well, you take chances and hope they pay off. This totally paid off! Lewis’s characters are so compelling and interesting that I found myself completely caught up in their lives (the way I always find myself caught up in OS Card’s character – whether I like the story or not). And the world he builds was so clear without being bogged down by over-description. The concept started out feeling very “Asimov” to me and I feared it would go the way of many of Asimov’s books do for me – interesting but unfulfilling. But that never happened.I finished this book completely satisfied and eager to start the next one. Read this. You’ll thank yourself later.

Wow… What a great novel…, July 7, 2013; By: Andre Avaregan
A friend gave me this book to read and when I started I could not put it down. GREAT sci-fi novel and a very good read. I have read many books but this one with the twists and turns.. it was riveting and mind blowing. it was very hard to put down and luckily I had the second novel to continue.
Best debut since Daniel Suarez’ Daemon, March 23, 2010
This review is from: The Essence of Daedalus Rimes: The Journey Begins (Paperback). “Incredible debut by H.W. Lewis…a page-turner that keeps the reader intensely engaged and wanting more, from start to finish. Fascinating character development coupled with non-stop action — I haven’t seen this many strong female leads since the last Lilith Fest (but I digress). At any rate, an excellent work that has me looking forward to the next part of the trilogy!”
Fantastic! Left me wanting more! October 31, 2009; By: Gift Card (Amazon)
This review is froom: The Essence of Daedalus Rimes: The Journey Begins (Paperback) “I’m not a big sci-fi fan but thoroughly enjoyed this book. I can’t wait for the next in the series to come out! It is fast-paced and exciting! Lewis creates a detailed alien society with complex political struggles, intrigue and espionage. There is also plenty of action. Fire fights with “pulse rifles,” sword fights, and good old fashioned punches in the face! If the rest of the books in this series are as good as the first, I can see a string of movies or TV series being developed from it. I also liked the fact that the author did not drone on page after page with tech-no mumbo-jumbo about the science of it all. After all, it is “Science Fiction.” Lewis was smart enough to allow his readers to just enjoy the story, without feeling the need to convince us that the mechanics of it all could work. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes action/adventure stories of Sci-Fi tales.

A Home Run for the First Time at Bat!, October 16, 2009; By Robert Wenaas “R. J. Wenaas” (Florida’s Space Coast)
The Essence of Daedalus Rimes is a refreshing change from the typical science fiction offerings of new authors. The book has the usual features of abductions, evil aliens, cloning, memory transplants and faster than light travel, but also has an alien species with surprising sensitivity and values, political intrigue, fire fights, and swordplay along with small doses of love, sex and rock an’ roll. The pace of the story is consistently fast, lacking the page filling and mind numbing quasi-technical explanations that bog down many author’s first works. H. W. Lewis’ sensitive portrayal of the protagonist Teela’s actions and thoughts as a feminine, but alien, character is impressive. The author indicates the total story will be contained in three or more volumes. If the succeeding books are as well written and entertaining as the first, the series deserves a wide and appreciative audience.

Entertaining and Satisfying, October 5, 2009; By luvs2read “L2R” (Encinitas, Ca)
I loved this sci-fi novel! The alien protagonist, Teela, is one of the strongest and most interesting female characters I’ve ever seen in fiction. The story is exciting and fast moving, and the alien culture is well imagined, complex and subtle. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series!
